Going on holiday and got some spare room in your bags? Pack for a Purpose is a charity that organizes drop off locations for charitable donations. The idea is: if you have some additional space, bringing a couple of sets of pencils or a few deflated footballs should fit in very easily! Very little effort required, and you know that on the other end you’ll be making children happy as well!

For just 5 lbs (2.27 kgs), you can bring
• 400 pencils or
• 5 deflated soccer balls with an inflation device or
• A stethoscope, a blood pressure cuff, & 500 band-aids

Their website is organized by location so you can find all the locations for dropping off stuff and amongst suggestions of bringing board games and crayons and such, you can also bring medication, plasters and the like. Using this sort of technique it would allow travelers to give aid while not really requiring any co-ordination. It makes a lot of sense and I’m suprised that this sort of thing isn’t bigger than it is!
